Ozonized water as pre-rinse and chlorhexidine as ultrasonic coolant: A Savoir-faire in times of covid-19

Background: Use of high speed ultrasonics work under pressure which generates spatter and aerosols, contaminate the surroundings with various infectious agents. To reduce agents several procedures such as protective barriers, volume evacuation device prerinse. Ozonated water is antimicrobial biocompatible making it suitable pre-rinse dental use. Chlorhexidine effective against broad spectrum bacteria attributing to its bicationic inhibitory action, bacterial cell protein chelation substantivity in oral environment. This study aims evaluate efficacy microbial content aerosols after prerinse 0.12% chlorhexidine coolant ultrasonic scalers.
 Methodology: 40 participants were assigned each group randomly Group A, B, C D. Blood agar plates placed on chest patients before start procedure.
 A pre rinse+ coolant
 B Distilled Water D After gravimetric settling, blood transferred laboratory for incubation at 37°C 48 h, followed by a colony‑counting procedure microbiologist.
 Results: ozonized significantly reduces generated during scaling when compared distilled without rinse.
 Conclusion: Prerinsing efficient mouthrinse minimizes risk agent cross-contamination operatory.
